Full Paver Driveway, Borders & Entrance

On Woodlawn in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, we completed a full front property transformation where the entire driveway, perimeter borders, and main entrance were constructed in pavers. This was not a patchwork upgrade or an asphalt replacement with decorative trim. The objective was a fully integrated hardscape system that elevates curb appeal while delivering long-term structural performance in Quebec’s freeze-thaw climate.

The existing driveway was removed and the subgrade evaluated before any installation began. Proper excavation depth was established to accommodate a compacted granular base engineered for vehicular load. Base material was installed and compacted in controlled lifts to prevent future settlement, rutting, or edge failure. Drainage slope was calibrated to direct water away from the home and eliminate pooling along the garage threshold and entrance walkway.

The driveway surface was installed entirely in interlocking pavers, creating a cohesive and durable surface capable of handling vehicle traffic without cracking like traditional poured concrete. The borders were framed with contrasting pavers to define the edges, lock the field pattern, and provide architectural structure to the layout. Edge restraints were installed along all perimeter transitions to prevent lateral movement and maintain long-term alignment.

The front entrance was constructed in matching pavers to tie the driveway into the home visually and structurally. Elevations were aligned carefully at the garage slab and entry door thresholds to avoid trip hazards and ensure smooth transitions. Jointing sand was installed and compacted to interlock the system and reduce movement over time.

The result is a unified front elevation where driveway, borders, and entrance read as one intentional design rather than separate elements. Beyond aesthetics, this installation was built for durability, load resistance, and long-term performance. On Woodlawn in DDO, the goal was simple: replace a standard driveway with a permanent architectural hardscape that adds value, structure, and presence to the property.
