Retaining Walls
Our retaining walls are built as structural systems, not decorative stacks of stone. We begin with proper excavation and a compacted 0 to ¾ or ¾ net granular base designed to distribute load and resist Quebec’s freeze thaw cycles. A perforated drainage pipe is installed at the footing level and surrounded with clean clear stone to relieve hydrostatic pressure and prevent water buildup behind the wall.
Behind the wall, we install a geotextile membrane to separate native soils from drainage stone and prevent contamination and long term settlement.
