This complete backyard project in Vaudreuil-Dorion was designed and built specifically for the soil conditions and freeze thaw realities of the region. In this area, clay content and seasonal ground movement can quickly compromise poorly built hardscapes. For that reason, the entire site was fully excavated and rebuilt with geotextile separation, properly compacted granular foundation, and engineered drainage to ensure long term structural stability.

The in ground pool was installed on a reinforced base with a properly formed concrete collar, creating a stable structural frame for the surrounding pavé uni surfaces. The patio and walkways were laid with controlled slope and reinforced edge restraints to prevent settlement and lateral movement over time. A structural staircase was constructed with reinforced support and precise elevation control to maintain consistent riser height and long term alignment.

The custom waterfall feature was built with a reinforced core, integrated waterproofing membrane, concealed plumbing lines, and a properly sized recirculation system to ensure reliable performance through Quebec winters. Behind the structure, drainage stone and moisture control measures were installed to protect against freeze thaw damage.

Plantation and sod installation completed the space, with soil amendment and grading designed to promote healthy root establishment and prevent water pooling. Every element of the project was coordinated under one engineered plan, ensuring that pool, stonework, water feature, and landscaping function as a unified structural system. The result is not simply a visually striking backyard, but a properly built outdoor environment designed to perform for decades in Vaudreuil-Dorion’s climate.

Bullnose units provide a smooth, rounded edge that enhances safety and comfort while protecting the pool structure from water infiltration. Proper adhesive systems and joint spacing are used to allow for seasonal expansion and contraction. The result is a refined, durable edge detail that frames the pool beautifully while performing structurally for decades.
